Volunteer Opportunities
Unity depends on the generosity of community members who share their time, talents and treasures to help us carry out our very important mission.

... two of the greatest gifts.  While the individuals we serve are facing illnesses and physical challenges, they are very much spirit-filled human beings.  The time and compassion volunteers share brings hope and eases burdens.  Whether you have direct contact with patients or prefer to support the mission behind the scenes in the office - there are ways for you to get involved.  We need you - please consider being there for a patient, just as you hope someone would be there for you or one of your family members when in a similar situation.  Volunteering is truly a gift of yourself.

We welcome volunteers of all ages and skill sets.  Daytime, evening and weekend opportunities are available in Unity's 12-county service area.

  Patient & Family Care
Provide companionship for patients or respite for caregivers.  It's a delightful and meaningful way to spend a few hours of your day - it may include playing cards with a patient in his/her home or facility, just being present while a caregiver runs errands or helping with small tasks.

  Office & Outreach Assistance
If you enjoy being in an office setting and assisting with data entry, filing, mailings and similar projects - we have a place for you!  For those who prefer to be out and about, there are opportunities to assist at health fairs and with special events.  These functions are vital to supporting our overall goal of caring for patients and families.

  Transportation
Do you enjoy getting behind the wheel and being out and about?  Volunteer to drive patients to medical appointments.  Mileage reimbursement is available.

  Creative Projects
If you enjoy knitting or crocheting, consider making a prayer shawl.  It's a wonderful gift to warm the body and soul.  Do you sew?  Consider being part of a group of talented volunteers who make teddy bears out of the treasured garments of loved ones who have been on Unity's program.

  Hospice Residence
Come be part of our residence team - if you enjoy being in the kitchen and making simple meals or baking cookies - we could use a few hours of your time each month!  If you'd much rather be outside, there are gardens and grounds that you can help us maintain - it's a beautiful sanctuary for patients and families to enjoy.

  Other Opportunities
Bereavement Support (phone contacts, memorial services)
Professional Services (beauticians, massage therapists, pharmacists)
